Muscle mass not only enhances your body image, but also contributes to weight loss. To build muscle mass, you must use weights. Weightlifting is one of the most effective ways to build muscle mass and muscle strength. The weights you use in weight training muse be heavy enough to induce muscle fatigue after approximately 10 repetitions. Weightlifting that enables you to continue up to 15 or more repetitions means that the weight is much too light to sustain any muscle fatigue to be effective in building muscle mass.
If you work 2-3 times per week, you can gain as much as one pound of muscle per month.
As you grow older, you lose more muscles. Therefore, you should consistently and continually do strength training throughout your life to maintain your muscle mass and muscle strength, both of which are critical to weight loss. Remember, your muscles burn calories while you sleep.
